STONECAT NATURE RESERVES has created many acres of woodland wildlife habitat over the last decade through its donations of saplings. Most of these have been single or small numbers of saplings, with occasional donations of larger batches. Collectively, the tree cover percentage has increased though on a miniscule level in the grand scheme of things - but every new tree counts. SNR is only a very small enterprise yet, despite this, virtually all its donated trees have gone to people who would not normally have planted such, being put off by 'red-tape' and even cost.
Now, SNR is planning to create its very own nature reserve. As such, all available funding is being diverted to this project.
Via farm break up auctions/sales, SNR is hoping to purchase a first few acres of low grade/low cost agricultural land here in North Wales, which will be planted up as a brand new mixed habitat nature reserve - wild flower meadow/woodland/wetland.
SNR has financial assets for the purchase of land for this project, and will use various fund raising methods to finance the on-going management of the reserve. All who have contributed to it in some way will receive documentation giving them and accompanied guests unrestricted access where over time, they can observe a new wildlife refuge forming.
The nature reserve will be dedicated to the memory of a friend of the webmaster who succumbed to lung cancer recently.
